“I used to be a big tomboy, so I always wore jeans, and clothes from my brother, and then when I was 12 or so – I come from the Netherlands – and when I went to high school there I was 11 or 12 and that’s when I started dressing more feminine and experimenting with makeup and I wanted to put on mascara and then I didn’t know how to so I put it on downwards and mascara was all over.
But, I like drawing, so I kind of have a steady hand, so I eventually figured out how to do the cat eye thing myself.
Just the way I see clothing or my piercings or my hair as a way that you express yourself or the way that you want to be perceived by others, I always want to be a bit different I think, which is why I bleach my hair and I always wear black eye makeup.
I always wear my eye makeup – I have pretty small lips so I don’t like myself in lipsticks, and I don’t really have a ton of makeup so this is what I tend to do each day. I use the cheapest one, the essence liner, that’s what I use. I go to a salon in Amsterdam for my hair – I’ve only been here for 2-3 weeks now and I go back in December because I’m studying abroad, and I only bleach it every 4-5 months, so I’m going to wait until I go back.
I use a silver shampoo from Redken for Men – it’s kind of sexist I guess because they assume they want to keep their grey hair toned so it’s the Redken for men one. For conditioner, I use Dr. Organic because I like the biodegradable and organic conditioners.”
